Yep ...we are all still patiently waiting for the day when the people from world's oldest continuing culture, holding the same legal rights as a rock on a track before 1967, the traditional owners of this land, are at least acknowledged in the Constitution of Australia as part of the development of a treaty and edge closer to true reconciliation.

Spirit Being , Boree Track, Yengo National Park

Darkinjung Spirit Being
The pictured Darkingjung Spirit being is located on a small and insignificant section of rock platform that is extensively broken up with small bushes. Most would drive straight past this site if you didn't know it's exact location. There are no other spirit beings like this group in the Sydney / Hawkesbury District. They obviously have great significance for the people of the Darkinjung Nation. The interesting thing about this spirit being is that the rest of the engravings is as weathered as it ever was - no attempt seems to have been made to re-engrave it except for the eyes which someone has obviously maintained. I do recall a picture book by Percy Tresize and Dick Roughsy that had a similar spirit being illustrated in a cave painting - same stingray shaped head and piercing red/orange eyes.
