The Gumbooya Site is a very significant engraving site on the Northern Beaches. Known widely for the large whale engravings there are many significant figures nearby on an adding platform - some of these recorded by WD Campbell in 1899 include groups of men, shields and a thylacine. There are several engraving sites in the SAydney / Hawkesbury district that have a thylacine, as distinct from a dingo, depicted. Note the appearance of the man's knee. The bulging knee appears on The Central Coast and Bobbin Head amongst other places. Access via Gumbooya Cres. Allambie Heights.
