Yep ...we are all still patiently waiting for the day when the people from world's oldest continuing culture, holding the same legal rights as a rock on a track before 1967, the traditional owners of this land, are at least acknowledged in the Constitution of Australia as part of the development of a treaty and edge closer to true reconciliation.

Large Significant Snake Engraving, Challenger Track Area, West Head

Large Snake Engraving - Rare !
This large engraved snake is one of several engravings to be found south of the Challenger Track and about 10 minutes tricky walk in from the West Head Road. It is not easily accessible from the Challenger Track. This engraved snake is like no other I have seen - death adders and quasi shield / snake engravings included. My understanding is that snakes are sometimes engraved where a fatality has occurred i.e. adult or child tagged. This is clearly not a Death Adder, Tiger but some other snake.

This engraving is located on a large rock platform that holds several rock pools that seem to contain some old engravings. There is another very small engraving to be found - appearing like a miniature representation of Daramulan - not referred to by F.D.McCarthy or W.D.Campbell in 1899. Worth a visit and a serious amount of respect!
