Yep ...we are all still patiently waiting for the day when the people from world's oldest continuing culture, holding the same legal rights as a rock on a track before 1967, the traditional owners of this land, are at least acknowledged in the Constitution of Australia as part of the development of a treaty and edge closer to true reconciliation.

Yep - we are all still waiting ....

Yengo Track, Finchley Aboriginal Area, Yengo National Park

Finchley Figures
This is an incredible site possibly matched only by one or two in Guringai Lands. There were around 130+ engravings recorded here at one stage. Whilst many have disappeared or been vandalised there is still much to view and celebrate. This site, like other sacred sites in the area, is perfectly aligned to Mount Yengo. This is a similar phenomenon in Guringai Lands where sacred ceremonial sites are aligned to others via "line of site" e.g. Narrabeen, Cottage Point, Bobbin Head etc. The previously recorded engravings were located on both sides of the track however almost all of those on the south-eastern side have been lost. Directions to this site are freely available and in detail from the NSW NPWS website. Note - this site is World Heritage Listed. Several Guringai Sites should probably be also listed !
